Hard drives on first build

Just wondering whats the best way to set up my hard drives. I was thinking of a 160gb or 250gb for my OS and then two- 500gb or 640gb. Is this a good way to go or would something else work better.

what kind of budget are you on ? am i write in assuming from your post you want the smaller drive to only run the os, and the other drives to store your files seperate.

That's correct, one smaller one for OS and two larger ones for storage. Budget is pretty open but was informed to stay away from anything larger then 640gb due to not being reliable

What I would do is setup 2 as internal drives, one for OS and one for storage. And then get a external hard drive just to use as a backup drive.

yes i would agree with above setup, but if your looking for some extra performance, being your small drive is only to run os why dont you get an 80gb solid state drive that will make your boot quicker, you can get an 80gb for around £150, then get a western digital 500gb internal hard drive, and a 500gb external drive that way your files are backed up to two seperate drives, and you have the external you can easily plug into anything else, say for example your giving a friend some files etc.
