Hello, i am having a problem on a Compaq Desktop. I installed an extra 40 GB HDD as set it as slave. the PC saw it and installed etc.. but i still cant see it in My Computer. I checked the BIOS settings, seemed to be ok. I even reset the bios to default. and nothing happened. How can i beable to view the HDD. Has anyone come accross this problem before.

Please any help would be good.....

I also have a compaq desktop, and I tried to install a 2nd hdd, and it totally confused it, I think it is just being "compaqey"

Try uninstalling everything IDE except the primary, then reinstall all of it, see if it works
 
This is the deal....

When i got the PC and installed the 2nd HDD on it and it saw it everything went fine. But when i used the Restore CD to Format and bring it back to a clean installation. thats when it all started. i will try what u explained to me. i hope it works.
But i think if we install with a normal WINDOWS XP cd i might work. i can always get the drivers etc... from the restore cd. or from windows update..

i will see what will happen..

but anyone advice from anyone which can help. i'd be happy to hear any...
