Not literally, but.. read on.
I'm currently on a different system to the one i have a problem with seeing as i don't see the point in setting the internet back up til i sort this problem out.
This may not be what's causing it anymore, but i got a virus off someone on MSN, the "Picture folder virus". Once you have it, at random times it takes you off msn and sends picture folders with messages to random contacts on your list, if they accept they get the virus too.
I tried my best to get rid of it, virus scanning, reinstalling, system restoring but it didn't work. Then I thought it might be develloping, because i started getting disconnected from the internet, i could get back on but after a while it started freezing the computer and cursor for about 10 seconds, letting me move for about 3 seconds then freezing again constantly until i restarted, after restart it would only be a matter of time til it started again.
So.. i thought the best thing to do would be to reformat, I couldn't seem to get the CD Drive to boot first, well it wasnt coming up with the start CD... press any key or whatever thing on post messages, so i just started it once i was on the desktop. I chose to make a new installation, but when it came to the partition part, i couldn't delete it. So i chose to install a new copy of windows and delete the existing files. It did that all fine and when i got onto my "reformatted" desktop all the files were gone as expected, BUT i went to Harddrive C: and only 50GB remaining, same as before i reformatted..
So.. i'm thinking that all my files are still on my harddrive somewhere, just not being used and not deleted. THEN the computer started freezing again, and this is with NO internet connection set-up.
I'm really stuck, i hope someone can help.
Basically I want to know how I can reformat properly and completely remove Windows XP and all the files and START again and if anyone knows what is causing this cursor to stop? Is it my harddrive being eaten? one of my friends said that, will i need a new one? I don't know.
Please help guys.
