Hardrive not detected

I have got my computer working but I tried installing linux and it couldn't find any harddrives!

I went into my bios and there isn't a primary master and there are no slaves at all.

My dvd drive is the secondary master and my hardrive is the third master.

I don't really know what that means, but I would guess there should be a primary master!
I couldn't seem to change any of this in the bios...

can anyone help please?

My hardrive is a seagate 250gb drive it is connected via sata.
My motherboard is a k8n neo4-f. Thanks.

Sata

With SATA the harddrive you make the partition on is the one you will see. But, there is a way to view it without uninstalling windows on it (if you install it). You format the harddrive to NTFS using Windows disk and you should be able to view the harddrive you installed windows on and, the other one on sata.
