hardrive not working

hi all, i bought an external hardrive some years ago, its not been used in around 2, anyways it is not switching on or anything, if used a new power pack and usb. any one know what the problem could be?

its an alaska intergral sata 500gb hardrive i think

thats an enclosure, the drive inside may have failed, or the supply did. does the drive spin up at all or anything when power is applied?

no nothing, it doesnt make a sound or anything, also the light failed a few weeks after purchase so that has never worked
