Its called spyware terminator. They had a big add in PC World, and it seems to work pretty well, althought i cant really test it to good since i just reinstalled OS. It actually has real time protection in the free version.
I've heard the name a few times while having spend more time going through other free programs as well as some sharewares to give them a good look over. If you going full version then you get everything there. With programs like AdAware SE Personal free versions are provided for home use only since the bulk of their business is in dealing with large companies. For a look at the free adware remover go to http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
Grisoft's free antivirus program AVG 7.5(latest version) has been used here for some time now and has done well in spotting many malwares and spywares. Grisoft recently bought out Ewido which was a high rated spyware/adware remover now name AVG Anti-Spyware Remover. Both of these are high rated freewares available at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free
The most important thing to remember is never count on "just one" program. You can give the free version there a good run but remember to often try a few others. When you see other programs suddenly finding things after you start seeing problems and install them then you will know the limits of that one.
Yea, i already have AVG and Spybot S&D. Ad-Aware never did much for me. i was just trying this one and getting some opinions, possibly recommending it to anyone else who wants to try it.
For the most part AdAware cleans up a good deal of the data miners found after visiting a number of different commercial sites. They love to stick little tracking "cookies"(text files) on your system to know your browsing habits. That leaves you vulnerable for spam at times.
The home page for Spyware Terminator is at http://www.spywareterminator.com/ You forgot to post a link for anyone to check it out for themselves. That usually makes it a little easier to see opinions after people have given it a run.
You will find however that you will usually end up going through a ton of programs like this to find the ones that will work the best for you. For someone downloading it now and giving it a good try it will take some time for an opinion to come later. Let's see how it works here.
EDIT:
The links here are screen shots for the results of the first scan following installation. Note the expert option was used since antivirus protection is already in use with AVG 7.5 not Clam. http://img159.imageshack.us/my.php?image=scanresultsuw9.jpg result screen
