Hauppauge HD PVR and Sony Vegas 9 question..

Hey everyone,

Today i got a Hauppauge HD PVR and set it up smoothly. I had everything connected and working so i captured my first video off my xbox. The video as it was capturing appeared smooth with no problems. When i went to my videos folder and opened the video quicktime also played the video smoothly. When i opened sony vegas pro 9 to edit the video was laggy and choppy in the preview box. Any suggestions to help?

What software are you using to capture? I'm quite sure all WinTV PVR/HVR's have hardware MPEG2 codecs. I guess it might open in Quicktime if that's how the associations have been set, but it should have a MPEG extension...

Anyway, what kind of video are we talking about here? Is it SD or HD? Realize if you do have a PVR/HVR, it is using hardware acceleration. Once you play it back on the computer, it's all software. If it's HD, it may be too much for your computer to handle. Even my i7 lags when editing videos from my camcorders (720p or 1080p)
