I just built this computer and the final peices come monday in the mail, what os should i put on it.

I wana use it for WoW, and new games like the orange box and jericho.

I have

abit motherboard
2gb ddr2 ram
512mb xfx geforce 8200gt pci-e
intel core 2 duo 2.2ghz
x2 160gb harddrives
asus lightscribe cdrw/dvdrw

i want vista cuz i think its cool, but im more comfortable with xp
i had vista on the system in my signature and i could not run wow, so i put xp back and everything works. i know vista uses like 700mb of your ram or some shit.

so i was wondering i was leaning towards xp pro, but most games i do want run on vista, so will my setup run my games without bullshit.?
what should i do.

Install XP, it will run your games and is not a resource hog like vista. If you like vista because it looks cool then i would suggest a free vista transformation pack to update your visuals.

With 2GB of RAM either one will work.

Why did you buy a 512MB 8200GT though? It performs worse then 128MB 6600GT...

thats not true, my friend has one he just purchased, and he is running wow on full settings, and source on full settings and has high fps. I thought they sucked also, but my friend showed me what it can do, and his processor is a pentium 4 on 1gb ram. so im sure mine will be fine. but forget that im worried about vista and xp

WoW isn't a very demanding game, however it wont play the Orange Box games on full/medium settings.

Even the 8500GT is worse then the 6600GT:

Anyyyways, Vista will be able to run most games so it shouldn't be much of an issue. I would mainly look into your programs and devices to make sure they are compatible with Vista, as for WoW, i'm sure there was a patch that was released to make it compatible with Vista.
