how can i put two montitors next to each other so the first one is part of my desktop and the otherone displays the other half of screen

Obviously you need two monitors, preferrably they would be identical but they don't have to be identical. Then you need to make sure you have either two outputs on the video card or that you have one primary (AGP or PCI-E) and one secondary (PCI) video card.

You then plug in both monitors and if necessary also use adapters to convert DVI to VGA and vice versa.

When you've got the computer running right-click on the desktop and click on Properties. Go to the Settings tab and click on the drop-down box labeled Display, and choose the secondary monitor. Then set the resolution and make sure the box labeled Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor is marked and then click OK.

If you want to change the order of the monitors in terms of primary and secondary you can make your 2nd monitor your primary by marking the box Use this monitor as the primary monitor.

If you want a taskbar at the bottom of the screen on the 2nd monitor you might have to use software such as MultiMon Taskbar or PowerStrip.
