Having a problem

im having a problem with my pc, sometimes when i try to turn it on the computer starts running but nothing comes up on the screen, then other times it will start up fine but when it gets to the desktop it will stay on for about 30 seconds then the screen goes black but the computer stays running. does anyone know what this might be?
 
Have you checked your screen saver's timer? You can check this by going to your desktop, right click, properties, screen saver then check the timer.
 
ya its not that, it just goes black and says "No Signal" and sometimes if i have music playin wen it does it the music will still play for a few seconds then the song just like starts to skip untill i turn the computer off
 
nope cuz ive checked all the hook-ups and everything is connected, like i said it will start up sometimes but then when it gets to the desktop and starts loading it just goes black and says no signal. could it be my video card maybe?
 
Very possible, but if you're seeing "No Signal" message, it's more than likely a problem with the cable, or the peripheral card it plugs into. Have you checked that monitor on another computer?
