having an issue with Windows Media Player

when i click on a link to play a "temporary downloaded" video on a website, WMP displays this message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")."

what can i do to correct this problem, because it used to work, but it now this message appears, and it works on other computers.

Have you changed anything to media player recently?

if its not to much bother just reinstall media player

is it media player 11?

if so i had a few problems with it-i uninstalled it then re-installed it with a codec package i downloaded from some file sharing site...

never looked back

thanks, i uninstalled it, then re-installed it, and it works again. It was working before, but i must have changed some setting without knowing. It's WMP 10, i believe.
