Having major probs with my pc, sum1 plz help...

I had left my pc on for abit while i was out, i came back moved the mouse and my pc shut automatically. Since then whenever i put my pc on it goes past the WINDOWS XP logo and just when my desktop is about to appear my pc restarts. It reaches this point everytime now, i can not reformat as i have very important information on my pc i need to back up. I have tryed safe mode but it still dont work. I have opened up my tower, cleaned everything inside and i have gone through my BIOS settings but i havent found anything unusual.

Can anyone please help me with this ASAP?

Bootable Linux

Hey have you tried using a bootable linux disk (such as knoppix) to gain access to the files that you need?? it bypasses windows completely and should let you access the harddrive. This wont solve the problem but at least it will allow you to reformat without losing information.

is there a flicker of blue when this happens? (i.e., bsod)
