having problems

This is really getting annoying. I am starting to get a kind of crash at random times. The screen turns a kind of purple-red and lots of small blue bubbles. I try ctrl+alt+delete to restart but it doesnt work. I was getting this many many times when I would start windows. I unclicked some useless stuff in msconfig startup. I thought the problems was solved. I try to load eve online and get past the character screen and then I get the crash. I was thinking it might be a problem with the video so I updated the drivers, still crashing. I did a virus scan and everything was clean.

The crash screen kinda looks like an old windows 95 first boot wallpaper.

What are your specs? Sounds like a video problem. Could be a bad card, if you have a dedicated one.

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel core i7 920 @2.67GHz
6 GB RAM DDR3
1024MB GeForce GTX 280
150GB Western Digital harddrive
HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NS30 ATA Device
HTO STRIKER 7.1

Did you properly remove the drivers and install them manually, or did you go into device manager and just press "update drivers?"

If you did, might just be a dying card. Do you have access to another card that you could replace it with to make sure that's the problem?

No, I didnt properly remove the drivers first. Dying card??? You are scaring me.

Well, I'm used to ATI drivers, so search on how to completely remove drivers for nvidia, and then install the current ones and see if that helps.

I have not had the problem in a couple days. Also, I have not restarted my computer in a couple days, could the problem be related?

Didn't get a chance to follow through with your previous suggested of removing old drivers and installing new ones yet, been busy.

Do you mean you haven't restarted, or haven't turned it off in a couple days? I wouldn't suggest leaving it on when you aren't using it.

I usually do turn it off when I got to work. I have been leaving it on because of the problem with the crashing. The computer has not been turned off and has not been restarted. And I haven't had a crash.

The computer has been going good for almost a week now, I still havn't restarted it. I need it right now to work on a project that is due really soon. I am going to wait for a few more days before I try to remove the old video drivers and install new ones to see if that fixes the problem.
