Hd 4870 1GB Vs. Gtx 260-216 review

I just got a 260, in fact it is sitting at UPS waiting for me to pick it up tonight. I was reading through all the benches and they perform about on equal par with what I wanted to spend.

My last two video cards were ATI though, and their drivers pissed me off, which made me switch back to Nvidia.

I mean I have owned plenty of ATI and Nvidia video cards and they are both great, but the last two years with ATI drivers has not been fun. I hate how you have to update the whole catalyst software and not be able to just update the driver. It gets annoying because I have TV out and have my comp set up as a media center to my TV and every time I update I have to go back in and reset everything back to my desired configuration because I can't just update the driver.

So, I made the switch back to Nvidia, hopefully, their drivers won't annoy me as much:D

Calibretto, From what I saw it showed both versions of the 260,maybe I missread though.

Tlarkin,Is it the 216 core version?

You know I am not sure, a google search with the model number does not turn up. However, it seems that the 216 version is just super clocked from what I have read.

You don't have the Core 216 model and you didn't really need it. It's an updated GPU, but all they added was 24 stream processors, so the additional price didn't justify the expense, IMO. With the eVGA model, you can always step up your card within 90 days, so if you find something better, you just pay the difference.

Yeah I was reading the reviews and the 216 got on average like 3 to 7 more FPS. I mean I probably would never tell the difference between that.
