HD failure?

idk if my hd has faild or what cause the system isnt detecting that its there anymore it was working about a couple hours ago any help?

ahh could it be another Maxtor bit the dust? Maxtor are known for just giving up early.

check that the cables from the drive to the motherboard have not cme loose.

check in your bios to see if the drive shows.
 
if the cables are in correct,and its not showing in the Bios then i should think the drive is dead.

have you tried plugging it into another pc and see if it shows in that pcs bios?
 
my dad has had a maxtor 20gb, and a maxtor 60gb in his computer for the LONGEST time.

i keep trying to convince him to get rid of them but he refuses lol.

make sure the sata and ide controller is set to ide mode. if everything is plugged in and it still isn't recognizing it im afraid you've lost your data on and old dead hard drive.
