hi i have a 160gb maxtor drive and when i start the comp with it connected it seems to short the comp out, likewise if i allow the comp to run then connect the hd later it will short the comp out, any ideas?
First of all never plug an internal drive in while the system is running. The drive sounds typical of Maxtor and likely doa. I recommend replacing it before you cause any other damage trying to use it.
