I want to know how can I make the HD with OS able to boot in another computer with different motherboard?

I feel my current MB bios is going die. And when the time happens I wish to take out the HD and install to another computer and able to boot up. I have tried that for testing but during the boot up. It shows a blue screen. How can I boot up successfully? thanks

You can just do a repair install. If not sometimes it will help if you uninstall all the motherboard drivers/ sound/ video drivers before you swap them out. If it will boot, boot into safe mode the first time and let windows install its generic drivers, shut down reboot in normal mode and install all your new drivers.

The only way to acccomplish that with no problems is to buy the same motherboard you currently have or a board that has the exact same chipset that is in yours. If you move a hard drive from one board to another one that is different than you will have to do a repair reinstallation of XP. Getting it activated is another problem you may have. Might have to call microsoft and tell them that your motherboard died and see if they will give you an activation number to activate the new install.
