I have my first check from my new job (16 y/o) for 220, i want a new graphics card to complete my rig, now i'm not spending above 120 on this graphics card, because i don't game at high resolution (1400X900) so i don't need a super high performance card, my options are the 3870, 4830, 9800gt, 4850... is the 4850 performance worth the extra 20 bucks from the 4830?... is the 3870 good enough of a card( i mean it's only 80 bucks), or will the 9800gt do a better job @ $120.... BTW i play games like
F.E.A.R(Waiting for part two), Spore, CIV, AOE, GTA4, Saints Row, (alot of FPS), and FSX... BTW i have a 680watt PSU

That 4850 is a pixel shader monster , but the 3870 is faster, you could drop another one in at a later date in crossfire . :D also silence is golden .

Say im lying or not, but the HD 4830 performs almost Par with the HD 4850. I was watching some Tiger Direct reviews about the HD 4830, and it only got 3 FPS lower than the 4850.

My vote goes for the HD 4830

IM running the MSI HD3870 OC edition. i have core 825Mhz and memory 2500Mhz and im getting 138FPS on cod4
Crysis 39 FPS
COD5 132 FPS

with the OC on card fomr the stock increased the memory bandwidth from 72-98GB. Card Idles 35oC and load is 51oC with stock fan.

Pick between 3870 of 4850 both will run any game you toss. But personally my buddy has the 4850 and hes 15fps lower in cod4
