HD3870 at Newegg at a price of $220

Good bye to 8800gt. I was about to get 8800GT, but now I have to rethink. HD 3870 is only SLIGHTLY behind 8800GT and when you compare the performance/price ratipo, you cant beat HD3870. Very interesting!

It's a good card but I can see the drivers letting it down hugely. Even for an old-ish card like mine the drivers can be hit-and-miss so I'd hate to think what these will be like.

But when you turn AA and AF on, the 8800GT performs much better

I would still get 8800GT over HD3870

8800GT ($270) > HD3870 ($220) > HD 3850 ($180) > 8600GTS ($140)
With $50 difference between 8800GT and HD3870, worth considering it.

i was wondering how this card would compare to the 8800GT...i agree with what you said about ATI drivers tough they are no good,especialy the last 2 updated drivers they are crap.

exactly. I am thinking about the same thing. My board is SLI board, but no crossfire. Still thinking. I want to see more people using HD3870 and see their reviews.
