HD4870 downclock issue

after encoding a dvd my gpu went fomr the idle 2d of 500 to 750. after it was done its still at 750. i rebooted and still there. is there something i have to do or reinstall drivers again.

temps are still 38/48/44 so still good but i dont need full throttle gpu on desktop
 
I noticed my 4870 fan spins way up when the computer goes to sleep. Sounds like ATI has some bugs still left to fix. Are your display drivesr updated?
 
yea im running the 9.1 drivers. might be a bug in the drivers. but l rebooted computer again and everything has been fine
