i am running vista and its buggy as hell. i think the best way to cure it is to to a clean reinstallation of vista. the problem is i did a self build and i want some guidelines as to how to wipeout all hdd data. its hard to access vista at times as it basically crashes alll the time.
please tell me how to perform a clean disc for my new pc.

Just boot to the Vista CD/DVD- delete the current partition-create a new one and let it format and install. That simple!

Do you have a full install or upgrade disk? With a full install disk you can choose the format option when giong to reinstall Vista to see the drive cleaned. You can also delete the current primary partition and see another one to replace the present one created. From there you continue on with installing a fresh copy of Windows.

Hopefully you have a full install version and not an upgrade disk since inplace upgrades can be buggy as a rule. For that you would first need to still reformat the current primary or see a new one in order to install the older version of Windows like XP and proceed with the upgrade from there.

Yes vista is very buggy and i have found a lot of people are going back to XP because it is so buggy.

To the contrary once people stick with it long enough most are seeing that it is far more stable then XP in several ways. One thing to remember however is that everyone has their own preferences no matter which version it is or what will be seen in the next one to come along.

You still see people running 98SE that refuse to upgrade to XP! Yet XP is more stable then 98 ever was being an "older" version there. It depends on how you want to look at it for the most part. The problem seen there was likely a bad install not simply due to being Vista or XP even. XP can even more buggy with bad installs at times.

yes i know have a look at a poll i started under OS and see people's opinions.

Some will find some immediate drawbacks while others won't even notice the difference other then being a different version of Windows. For many it isn't simply the differences seen but having a ton of softwares suitable for one version but not the next.

You saw that with people running 98/ME/2000 as well as you now will find with XP users reluctant to upgrade and ending up having to invest in all newer versions and upgraded softwares. It's the old dilemna seen there with "hey man why won't this run on.... ?".

I agree with you, im currently running under vista and it perform much better and stable than xp, theres slightly a incompatiblity problem but once you've stick with an update theres nothing to worry about.
I know some people will get sick with all the problem, but for me its just a learning process (theres a problem, just figure it out how to fix it, there google anyway) and how u adapt with the new os.

I originally had XP Pro set as the default over XP Home and Vista being the newbie OS on the last build when it first came out. As expected you simply wait for the updates and bug fixers to come out where now I have it set as default. Despite the differences it ends up being MS Windows no matter how you look at it. :P
