HDD detection question

I'm currently trying to get Windows XP installed on my new computer. I've got a 160GB Seagate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148034

When I attempt to install XP, it says it can not find a hard disk drive, but BIOS does detect it, because I tried running a low level format in an attempt to get XP to recognize it, which didn't help.

Any ideas what's wrong? It's connected to the motherboard via a SATA cable, and it's got power. (I assume it's hooked up properly since BIOS is detecting it... right?)

It was OEM, but I swapped the cable to a diferent cable input on the mobo and that seemed to fix the problem.
Sounds like you had it connected on the SATA RAID controller rather than the "normal" SATA line
