HDD problems

hi, wen i turned my computer on today i went to my HDD n it only had files that i had saved yesterday, nothing else (work pc, dont have the access rights to the windows files etc obviously).

can anyone suggest what i can do to get the work back that appears to have disappeared into thin air?

did you create a new id? IF SO, which id did you create it under... Can you log into that one? Files are displayed by user.
