HDD question.

one of my spare PC's took a sh!t on me(mobo).and my question is; how can i get my pictures/video's off the HDD?can i hook it up to my other PC through SATA and go in my "my computer" and select the HDD through there, open it up, and go through and get the stuff i need off the HDD? Any advice would be great,thx.

Edit: the PC that died was XP and im hooking it up to W7.

It should work to hook it up with a sata cable like you said. I was able to do that the other day with one drive I have. Although it was Linux not windows. Just make sure you boot off the win 7 drive and then it should find your pictures and videos.
