this time i am in a deep trouble. i have 3 hdd, 80GB, 40Gb and again 80GB. recently i played around with partitioning and i tested out a few OS so that mens i formatted my hdd few times. and suddenly i realize that my 80GB hdd did not only shrink in partition, but the whole hdd shunk from 80Gb to 31GB. in gparted, my /dev/hdc is only 31GB, it used to be 80GB. this is the first time i come across this scenario, can anyone help me identify the problem and the solution?

It sounds like you resized the single partition there while running GParted. You can also resize it again to see the full capacity of the drive used. The center indicator bar acts like a slide control when you click and hold on the tab seen there where what looks like clamps grabs that. You can then move it either way to increase or decrease the partition sice.

Once you click the apply button and answer yes to the confirmation prompt that puts the change into effect. Then you watch a small window with a small tab going back and forth almost like that seen when booting either XP or Vista.

hey, thanks guys for helping. i solved the problem already. it is my jumper that gave me the problem, it was set to 32GB.
