HDD testing tools

I am trying to run hard drive tests on a HP pavilion dv9000. I have tried the following programs and they cannot detected hard drives but they can see the dvd drive: MHDD 4.6, SeagatTools for DOS 1.08, Test Hard disk drive 1.0.

I can boot partially into vista so i know the drive is some what functional. The computer was dropped and windows wont load fully. So I need to run tests on the drive. I believe the hard drive controller is not supported by the above listed programs.

Are there any other testing programs that are new enough to support a fairly new hard drive controller?

nvm, i download SeagateTools for DOS 1.10 and it detects the drive

I put the harddrive into a desktop coputer with SATA so i could run MHDD. Seagate tools found no errors but MHDD found hundereds of slow sectors and other warnings.

leason learned is just put the drive into an older computer that testing software will support.
