hdmi and tv

hi everyone i install a mid range video card on a computer which had a hdmi port. After connecting the hdmi port to the tv and vga port to the monitor everything was going great. However I couldn't get any sound to the tv and when i finally did get it to work the computer speakers wouldn't work anymore. Any ideas on whats happening? What I'm trying to do is have sound on both...

p.s whats the easiest way to configure how the tv and monitor are viewed? sometimes they are mirrored and sometimes one is the extended version of another. Oh how do make one monitor the primary monitor and the tv the extended version? sorry for all the questions any help is greatly appreciated

Telling us what card you put in would be a good help. Typically the hdmi out on alot of video cards doesn't carry sound, just the video. You will have to likely run audio in addition to the hdmi. You can check to be sure there isn't a setting in the video card to turn the audio on and off. As for primary and seconday display that's all up to the settings in your graphics card.
