HDMI connection

I have an Acer Aspire with HDMI and VGA output. I have hooked my computer up to my LCD in the living room. I can not get the audio to work thru the speakers on my LCD. I have to hook up external speakers. Looking in the device manager my display adapter is an NVIDA Gforce 8200. Under the sound, video, and game controller there is an NVIDA HDMI audio. I have been thru the properties and it looks like they are enabled. Any suggestions
 
Are you connecting the two through the HDMI or VGA port?

HDMI will relay video and sound through the cable. I believe VGA is video only.
