HDMI from Computer to TV - No sound?

For the last year or so I have had an old computer behind my Flat Panel TV, which I use as its display device. The computer's video output did not include a HDMI jack which I needed to couple the two, and I purchased a ASUS Video card which had that feature. Everything worked out well until I decided to upgrade the computer so that it could run 7 instead of XP. I used the same ASUS card again in the new computer, but now there is no sound. If I click on the loudspeaker symbol, the graphic showing the volume control pops up and I can see a little green bar pulsing, indicating sound is reaching the system, but nothing that I do will produce the sound in the speakers.
The TV works OK when used to watch TV programs.
I am at loss to explain this, it worked before with the same Video card.
Any ideas, any one?

Go into sound icon in control panel and change sound output to hdmi instead of onboard sound.

johnb35 - I tried what you suggested, but my computer does not allow me to change the audio speakers. The only thing I can do is en- or dis-able the driver.
Like you show in your sample, the first listing is a 2-channel HMDI Audio device which shows that it is not plugged in. Then there are 3 other similar ones in different channel configurations. The "configure" and "set default" buttons are grayed out.
BTW I checked with headphones, the audio is present there. I have therefore several alternative options, A. Use separate Computer Speakers, B. Use a wireless headphone that I have, C. Use my HiFi Amp that I use for playing CDs. But I really like to get the TV audio going, so I will look first for a solution there before I resort to the alternatives.

UPDATE - It suddenly started to work as it should have when I installed it - I have the sound now through the TV speakers. I do not know what happened, and why it now works, may be the cable was not making good contact or something... As I stated above, I could not set anything on the menu itself, so I prepared myself to install one of my alternatives. It is not necessary now.
Anyway, thanks for the help John.

UPDATE 2 - I think that the TV was the problem all along. Last night I paused what I was watching, and I waited too long to resume, and the computer went into hibernation. When I bought it back to live, the sound was gone. I had to switch the TV OFF and back ON again for the sound to return.
It seems that I have to power up the computer first before I switch on the TV. Apparently it looks for its HDMI input for sound when it initializes, but does not do so when the signal goes away while it is on. Good to know!
Weird!

Update-3 - It is not working again! Drives me bonkers! No matter what I do now, first power up the computer, or first powering up the TV, I can not get the sound into the TV speakers when streaming video from a website like Hulu. It worked before...
Can it be the HDMI cord? I wiggled it, reversed it, with no avail. I do not have another one to try, but might buy one just to be sure.
Anyone had this experience?

Update-4 - Works again! It suddenly worked when I plugged in an audio cable in the back of the computer to my wireless headphone amplifier to bypass the TV speakers.
Needs this to get the audio signal onto the HDMI cable? I am not gonna test this theory, it works, and I leave it alone!
