they do, ATI cards 3xxx series and up come with the DVI adapter for HDMI output. Which also output high definition sound.

DVI and HDMI both are basically the same, picture quality wise.

Also, newer cards (nvidia and ATI) are starting to come with HDMI outputs built onto the PCB therefor no adapter is needed. Most of those are not reference PCB designs, though.

I didnt think that DVI put out sound. But i see what you mean i looked up specs, and picture quality wise they are exactly the same. They both use the same encoding scheme, So i guess question answered lol.

Thats what i thought. I was just wondering. I mean a 500 dollar video card you think they could incorporate some HD sound as well.

That is with the HDMI adapter, from DVI. You cannot get sound through DVI, but with the HDMI adapter, you do.
