HDTV dilemma

I'm thinking of saving up for a high definition TV for use in my living room but i also want to use it as my PC monitor. This may sound strange but i thought that it would be a little pointless of me to buy an expensive TV and then stick to using my old monitor. If it has a VGA input connection is it possible to connect it to both my PC and my set top box and then be able to switch between the PC output and TV channels with ease? Theres probably a simple answer but the more research i do the more confused i get:confused: . Any advice?

I have an older ViewSonic N1800TV monitor. I can connect to a computer (VGA), to cable tv or an antenna (coaxial cable), Dvd Player (YPbPr), S-Video (Great for connecting to an XBOX or PS2) and AV (Connect to a DVD Player or VCR). It also has built in speakers and you can connect your computer to it and then connect to external speakers.

This monitor is a few years old now. It still works great. I would suggest doing some research and look for newer models (with HDTV capabilities) with these kinds of features.

I would HIGHLY suggest any Samsung LCD for this purpose. LCD does not have a burn in feature...just incase you leave your desktop on the screen for a extended period of time, even though some plasmas have this feature i don't trust them. Aside from that the Samsung LCD has a VGA input along with tv tuner/HDMI inputs/ & HDTV.
