HDTV issue (on screen)

I wanted to ask this cuz I noticed this problem a couple months after buying my 55" HDTV (just for my PC, since I don't watch TV):

From the actual frame of the TV to the lighted part of the screen, from the left side of the frame to the left side of the screen (and same on the right hand side), there is about 1.5 inches (3.81cm) of blackness. From the top of the TV frame to the top of the lighted up screen, there's about 1 inch (2.54cm) of blackness and the same amount of unused space on the bottom of the screen.

Could this be my graphics card causing this issue

What should people usually do regarding setting the resolution? I know resolution is somewhat of a personal preference, but I was flipping back and forth between the TV resolutions via the remote control and the resolutions for my video card and they are different. Which one do I use or which one should I use?

And last question is if I upgraded my graphics card, if this might resolve the issue?

Thanks.

See if there's an "auto adjust" or something like that. Sometimes the TV needs to get reassess the input its getting and it will try and fix any dead black bars you have around the edges. You might also be able to manually manipulate the edges somewhere in your settings. What TV do you have?

As for resolution you typically want it at the highest possible. Most TV's are either 720p or 1080p. Assuming the TV is new and not used when you bought it it's probably 1080p. It would say on the documentation of the TV and probably even the box as well. Set your resolution to the highest that your TV support and then try the readjustment I mentioned above. Those bars are more likely caused by the TV than the computer.

Usually there's a 'scaling' setting that I've seen by default automatically scale the image down in size. I know that's how it is in CCC, not sure what video card you have.

Once you adjust the slider to 0% underscale it should fill the whole viewable image.
