Headset with webcam problem

Hey, first post here, wondering If anybody could help me with a little problem im getting.

Heres what im trying to do..

I have a Logitech Quick cam 4000, years old but it does what I need to. I set it up to face out of the window so I know if a delivery driver arrives at the door. I do this because I have a SB arena headset which prety much blocks all noise coming from the real world.

The problem comes in when I try using these both together. The quick cam is all setup facing out of the window, I plug in the headset to start gaming, and it doesnt work. Speakers work fine, but not the headset.

Does anybody have any idea why these devices wouldnt work together? When I attempt to use the webcam with the headset pluged in the webcam program says that the webcam is already in use (must mean the headset is using it but I dont know how).

I think it may have somthing to do with the microphones, both the webcam and the headset both have mic'. Ive tryed to disable all of the mic's apart from the headset in recording devices, but still doesnt work.

Any help would be appreciated.

What os are you running? You are on the right track with the mic issue had a similar issue myself with xp on a laptop that had integrated mic and a webcam that had one where it would do this.. Solevd it by disabling all microphones and enabling them one at a time until i got it on..

Im running Windows 7. Ahh ok, so im on the right tracks. I dont know what to try now however, I've tried disableing them all and only enabling the headset, even uninstalled the webcam microphone out of the recording devices list.
