Heat Issues Asus G60VX

I have an Asus G60 VX that seems to be having heat issues. The problem seems to be related not so much to the thermal paste itself but to the contact or lack there of between the GPU and CPU and their corresponding heat sinks. What I'm wondering is if anyone has had this type of issue with their laptop before. What kind of thermal paste you might have used. Also, I have a lot of the little foam style thermal pads on various other parts and I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to buy those. I wish those thermal pads would conduct heat as well as actual thermal paste because I feel like that would resolve my lack of contact between heat sink and GPU due to the increased thickness of the material. I've repasted the stuff about 4 times now and would welcome any advice.

My father had a G71 asus and it was overheating.. part of it was dust build-up, but the paste from factory was nearly dust..

I took it apart, cleaned out heatsinks/fans and then cleaned copper contact on cpu and applied Arctic Silver..

completely fixed the problems..

Just careful to not use too much paste..as it can easily leak out and hit mobo.

See, I'm using arctic silver... Dust is most certainly not an issue. The problem is is that when I pull the heatsink off the GPU after having repasted it I can see that it never fully contacted the GPU due to the lack of paste transfer from parts of the GPU to the heatsink. So I know they always say not to use too much thermal compound but I don't know what to do in this situation because it seems that if I don't use enough it doesn't contact properly and won't really transfer heat at all.
