Heatpipes Vs non-heatpipes (an overlooked question??)

Hi all,

Im sure the manufacturers of these products know what they're doing, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question...

but the question just came to me as to whether heat pipe heatsinks are as effective on their sides in a tower / midi tower PC, than in a desktop orientated PC.

In other words, it seems logical to an absolute layman like me, that:

This type above seems as though it would be as effective no matter which way up it is...

This type above seems as though the condensing gas would collate away form the CPU if its on its side.

Please let me know if ive got this all wrong. Im still learning so a little indulgence is needed.

thanks guys

Yes, the pipes work and far as I know pushing cool air into the cpu. The second heatsink is far superior to the first. Stick a fan on it and your good for overclocking.
