Heats effect on (stored) laptop?

How much effect will heat have on a laptop kept in a parked vehicle all day in South Florida? I will use a laptop only occasionally at work, but I want to have it available when I do need it. Keeping it on a construction site will be more likely to invite damage, or theft, than keeping it in my truck.

I'm shopping for a new laptop, and this will influence how much I'm willing to spend. Based on this one factor, should I buy new? Should I look for any particular components? I am on a limited budget.

Well what's your budget? As for leaving it in your car, if you must then I'd try to get a case for it and keep it in your trunk (usually cooler than the cabin). Also if you're going to be using the laptop outdoors, then I'd recommend a glossy screen with a bright screen.
