hello> FuryRosewood <amd 955 and 965 biostar n750 problums

hi i recently tryed to upgrade my processor , have a biostar n750 mobo , 700 watt powersupply coolermaster extremepower pluss , h50 corsair liquid cooling , windows 7 64, pny nvidia 260 core 216

i orginaly got the 965 as from waht i undrestood it was the same as the 955 just higher clock , installed it and the latest bios and the second to latest bios , with boath it worked verry well for a short time , then would lock up ,computer would totaly lock up and no restart , no bluescreen or anythign .

since the 965 is not officialy on the list , i swaped it out for the amd 955 , no overclocking or anything , temps are good for boath >29 to 45 c, but agean after a short time it would compleetly lock up , this was in games and apps as well as sitting at the desktop .

i ran vantage and it made it though that with out any problums , wich seems strange , i tryed 2 games mass effect 2 and age of conan , boath would lock up after a short time < with no issues and great frame rate befor lock up >
as i said it also would lock up compleetly just sitting at the desktop .

i searched every wehre for a solution for this problum , includeing emailign biostar <no response > and i see that some members here have the same mobo and processor i would like to message member FuryRosewood < as thay have this mobo and proc , but cant seem to figure out how to send a pm .

any help you could give would be grrrrreat !

ok if im understanding correctly the question is saying that theres 2 virisons of the processer <boath are 125 watts >and this mobo only supports the c2 one and not the c3 one ?

the 955 i have is the c3 it appears , coulld that be whats causeing my lock ups ? and is there a way to fix it , byond finding a c2 virsion ? <found the model number thats listed as supported on the biostar site HDZ955FBK4DGI, the C2 stepping one > is it a bios issue ? if so is there any bios workign for the n750 and the hdz955fbgmbox c2 955 proc ?

FuryRosewood i see you are useign the n750 and the 955 are you useing the c2 or c3 virison , what bios are your useing if u could ?<would pm but i dont see a way to do it >

im running a C2 125W phenom 955 and the bios is their latest, was hoping for a newer one to support six core chips, but that is not happening.

have you checked the ram using the memory tester, and is the ram set to the manufactuerers recommended voltages and timings? I happened to have a issue this week due to ram, however it turned out the ram slipped out of its slots, i guess i kicked the case, and i reseated it, and everything is fine. the tpower board has a built in memtest x86+ module in it, so reboot with the memtester enabled on the tpower tab in the bios options.

ok thanks mate , so it probably is the c3 thats causeing the problum then ? i guess i gota get a new mobo , or just ride this one out for a bit :/ damn

thanks agean

i would doubt a c3 stepping chip would give a issue, but im pretty laid back on some things, have had so many memory problems, id jump to the conclusion your having a memory problem so test the memory honestly, that would be my first idea

any suggestions where to start ? thats the only thing i can see thats not suported , and all the other componants in my computer are good , is not heat , and it runs fine with and older proc <even overclocked to 3.2 is dual core am2+>

im totaly open to suggestions <tryed to check with biostar but thay dont seem to be returning emails hehe . and man theres no info that i can find on the net , wich is how i ended up here seeing your cig .

i sending you my recommendation, check your ram, run memtest for a few hours, if the ram checks out ok, make sure your cpu is running within the voltages that are recommended by amd, it should hold out fine, the c3 should be more stable than c2 honestly...im kinda baffled

btw its a weekend, biostar wont be returning a message until monday probably

bumping as suddenly my board just went sour i think, ran into a problem running clocked at 3.6ghz @ 1.875Vcore, and was getting all sorts of errors last one was 0x124, other was 0x109

said the hell with it, im leaving it stock from now on, the board just is not meant to overclock i think, it has alot of flashy accessories and features, but its just a lower class board, going with a amd based board next from gigabyte, should be better quality.

if you can just get a new board that might save your problems, just finding a ddr2 based nforce 750 is hard now, their all ddr3 now, and at that point you midas well get a amd based chipset
