Hello, help appreciated.

Hello there everyone.
I would just like some help with something, namely building my own desktop computer for a budget that will not exceed £350-400.
This PC would be for gaming purposes.
I am a total "noob" at building computers, have never done it before, but, being a student, I would like the most bang for my buck.
I wouldn't go out and buy all the pieces without asking someone who knows about this kind of stuff.
So here goes:
1) Please list all hardware and things that I would need to buy (preferably a build that someone has already tested and owns, I can't afford to make mistakes, literally). So please make sure the parts are compatible.
2) Name EVERYTHING, step-by-step, or link a site that shows a tutorial on how to build desktops for complete "noobs" like me from scratch, windows INCLUDED (I've never installed an OS on a computer).
3) Please include everything I need, from screws, screwdrivers to components I would need in order to make this gaming rig.
4) I would have bought myself a ready-made computer, but I spent all my savings on getting a shoulder operation so please bear with me.
5) Components must be from a trustworthy U.K. site, as I live in the U.K. =)
If you reply, thank you for your priceless answers =)

Regards,

Adam

This thread at the beginning of this forum section will tell you how to build one:

$560 is a bit on the low side for building a gaming computer. You can do it but it probabaly wont be able to play the most demanding games on higher settings and probably wont be that future proof. You should be able to build a good gaming computer for around $700.

These are the components I have in my gaming rig and their current price on newegg.com...

computer case: Foxconn TS001-V-D350A (came with power supply and 1 fan) $45
power supply: generic 500W $20 - many people would debate needing larger or a brand name
motherboard: Asrock P45Turbotwins2000 $110
processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 $165
memory: 4 gb Patriot and Corsair 4x1gb 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 ~$70
video card: Diamond Radeon HD 4870 1 GB $300
hard drive: Western Digital sata 320gb 7200rpm $50
optical drive: Asus DRW-20B1LT ~$30
operating system: Windows Vista home basic $90
second case fan: KINGWIN F-09BB 90mm $5

As you can see I spend close to $900 for my computer and that doesnt include the $250 22" lcd screen.
