Help! 1.5GB CAS 3 vs 1GB CAS 2.5-which is better?

I'm building a computer for the first time. I recently bought 1GB (2x512) of PC3200 OCZ Value Ram (CAS 2.5) and am wondering if it would be better to use 1.5GB (3x512) of KVR400 Kingston (CAS 3) instead. My system will have an older Athlon 64 processor and the MB is an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe (socket 754). I plan on using my system for gaming and video editing primarily. Thanks for your inputs!

you might want to check if you motherboard can use that much ram at full speed, i think it should be ok tho.
i doubt you'll notice a difference between CAS 2.5 and 3; personally i would do it

Hairy,
It is the same mobo as you have listed in your signature. The mobo manual says it can handle up to 3 GB - but I don't know how to tell if it will run how much at a particular speed.

according to the manual, it says that if you have three sticks of single sided ram it will run at DDR333, if you use three sticks of double sided ram you'll only be able to run at DDR200.
judging by the difference in speed that you'll experience i'd be tempted to keep it to the 2 sticks of 512 and the processor will be starved of bandwidth and you'll notice a drop in performance

if dual channel i'll go with two. also i'd rather have the higher cas and speed as well since probably wont use all those memory up.

he cant use dual channel anyway since its a socket 754

Thanks for your responses! I will primarily be playing games (brothers in arms, and bf2) and doing video editing with Premiere.
