i need access to the printer from both networks

the printer is a epson workforce 600 with ethernet and wireless, but only one works at a time. i had though about connecting with ethernet to one router and wireless to the other, but they disable each other.

here's my network:

i read i may need another router to act as print server, is this true?

or can i crossover both routers and have both networks connected? they seem to use the same range of internal ip addresses. would they get all confused when giving out addresses?

thanks.

the printer will have one IP adress will it not tying it to one network?

so then the other network cant connect to it as private addresses are non routable so that network has no way of finding it?

you could prob set up a static route through the routers or just buy a printer there quite cheap now.

i don't quite think i follow, if you're saying that i can't use the printer on both networks, you're right, i can't. that last bit however, i don't know what you mean by static route through the routers? you mean connecting the routers to each others?

i could buy another printer, but i would still want to do this.

you need to connect those 2 routers together... are both of these networks in the same building?

sorry for the late reply, i was trying to upload a new picture to imageshack, but it's being retarded.

yes, i have two internet lines coming into the same building. each attached to routers.
how would i connect teh routers? with a crossover cable?

i'm thinking about getting a file/print server with two NICs and each plugged into each router. i think this will work, but it's going to be a while before i can set that up.

i was thinking more short term solution, i have an extra router lying around, maybe i can use that???

if you have a spare nic in each router yes use a crossover... obviously create your routes etc etc.. or if this is not possible a vpn could be done if you have the hardware for it.

enter the router configuration on each router.

you should have the option to set up static routes

enter the network address of the router and lan you want that router to access
