HELP....Black screen

alright, my friend turned off the AGP adapter....well when he restarted the computer everything was fine, you cna still see the windows logo and everything as it loads. However, when windows itself finally boots up, it is completely black on the screen. Windows does load, you hear all the sounds and what not, but the screen is black. It is not the monitor. I am pretty sure it is the fact he turned off the agp adapter (he had also just deleted all teh video drivers trying to fix his previous problem). I tried booting up in vga mode, and looked through bios or whatever and found nothing that could fix the problem. Anyone know what to do? Would reformatting help?

there's a couple of things you could try, first maybe he can get in with safe mode cause it only boots necessary drivers and something's still using the video card cause he gets the loading screen. You could also try doing a repair of the windows installation if that doesn't work, but that might not work. Maybe unplugging and reinstalling the video card will make Windows treat it like it is new hardware and will revert to default drivers. Lastly, reformatting should most definitely solve the problem, but you might not have to do that and it would suck to do that first if there was some easier solution.
