Hello every one I'm new to this fourm and building a computer so please don't make fun of me to much I'm still learning!
So I would like to build a computer for gaming and for the oculus rift there's are the requirements
  • NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • Intel i5-4590 processor equivalent or greater
  • 8GB+ RAM
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • 2 USB 3.0 ports
  • Windows 7 SP1 or newer. I would like to build from scratch. I have been looking at cases and just don't know what parts would work with what. And keep it as cheep as possible, like instead of amd is there some off brand just not paying for the name? I have a run of the mill desktop but I know it will not even come close maybe is it worth upgrading? It's a e machine from 2010 and would the parts listed work with each other? I just want the cheapest of what the requirements need.
  • Thanks for the help!

You're asking for the cheapest equivalent for the parts listed above? What is your budget for a build? A budget would be good so we can suggest a build for you, I'd be happy to help.

Those are pretty top of the line parts you need.

I expect it couldn't be done cheaper than around 800-1000 dollars. And that would be the minimum you need. To get better than that with an Oculus Rift, I believe and i7 and SLI/XFire are necessary.

You absolutely need to pay for the name in computer parts. Its not like clothes

Well in a perfect world for me keeping it under $500 would be nice, but I know it won't be, $800 would be the max seeing as how I would buy each part separate over the next few months, if it's over 800 to avoid droping almost a grand at once. Thanks every one

would that kit work for the oculus rift. Ok so I would like to play games at 1080p 60fps if possible and of course the rift if I got to pay a little over budget I will if I'm going to span buy parts thanks!
