Help building grandpa a computer.

Hey again guys. So my grandpa wants to get a new computer and I have decided to build him one since I just finished building myself one and have realized how much cheaper it is.

We have allocated 300$ max to the ram, motherboard, video card, and processor, sound, and harddrive.(dont worry about anything else) I know this is not much but I just built myself a gaming computer for around 500$ and it is way faster than he will need.

He is a stock broker so he will only have multiple internet windows open at once as far as putting the computer under stress. Also having a video card that allows 2 monitors. We are using 2x 19" LCD's.

He will be running windows 7.

My idea was DDR2 and am2 processor with maybe a saphire 4650 video card. Not sure about the mobo and maybe there are some good combo deals on newegg.

this one seems decent.

Thanks for your help I really want to set my grandpa up with a decent computer. :good:

I am going to buy whatever case has a good rating and will fit the parts we buy. Will go to Frys and let him pick it out when we get the parts.

Okk so i was searching around newegg and found some parts that had good ratings and were low in price. Let me know what you think.

harddrive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103687

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227377

video: i was thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127366 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102838 but not sure if the saphire is necessary for searching the web better.

all of this would be 240-260 depending on video card. So with tax we will be around 300$. How does that build sound?

Don't get either of those motherboards. The BioStar one is BioStar, and the Gigabyte one has really limited BIOS settings (like you can't change RAM voltage and stuff, which you may need to do sometime even if you aren't overclocking.) What I'd recommend if your on a budget is an ASUS board... something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131330 It's what I've been using for quite some times now and I haven't had a single issue with it.

Also, as far as a PSU is concerned, get a Corsair. 400W will be just fine, but get a Corsair.

Here's a good GPU to get for him: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127383

EDIT: Or if he wants to pay less for the GPU just get the 4650 you linked to, the 4670 is a good deal better, but probably not necessary.

You might want to find a pre-built system. I made the mistake of
building a $300 system myself, I thought I would save money. But
I ended up worse off.

My local computer warehouse store sells parts, but they also make
their own systems. Which is basically the parts, but since you buy
it as a system, you save a lot of money.

You also need a case, power supply, DVD-RW and operating system.
You won't fit all of that in $300.

True. Windows costs around $100 by itself.
