okay i am a college student and purchased an asus k601j laptop and i have had some problems with different user accounts.. i had one completely mess up so i just deleted it. when doing that it must of messed something up becuase now every time i go to create another user account it wont let me and simply says, "the specified account name is not valid, because accounts names cannot contain the following characters:/\[]"<>+=,?*." okay i know your thinking well then you must have one of those characters in the name... well i dont.lol. this is not the first time the user accounts have been idiotic and i would really appreciate any help i could get.. thank you!!

make sure their isn't a space in the name, it can cause the problem, and isn't always something you spot.

need to know the operating system to help very much further, but if XP try booting into safe mode and accessing the administrators account, and create a new one from there.

Try going into:
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Local Users and Groups -> Users

Right-click below the user names and click add user. From there, you can either go back to control panel and go into user accounts, to change the user's group, or go into Local Users and Groups -> Groups, and pick a user group you want to add the user into. Right click the group and click add to group. Click add, type in the new user name, click check names, and click ok.

once i get to the point where i click computer management in administrative tools a network error pops up saying "check the spelling of the name. otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. to try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose." then when i click diagnose it says
"Error code:0x800704b3
the network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the network provider is not currently available. please try retyping the path or contact your network administrator."

so still no luck.. im not totally against rebooting my laptop or "starting over".... idk if that is possible but i have nothing on here that is of absolute importance.. :/
