HELP! cant get C&C The First Decade to work on my computer?

alright well it used to work but i recently transferred most of my files (music, photos, games, etc.) to my external hard drive because my internal simply did not have enough room. now when i try to launch this game im totally confused. i have installed it before so i stick in the disc i click launch but then nothing else ever pops up. ive tried to uninstall it from my internal (which ive already deleted it from) and it doesnt give me an option to do that, it just says "run" like it already thinks its installed, when its totally deleted from my intrnal anyway (i cant figure out how to install it on my extrnal either. im about to go insane, plz help!!:angry:

If you just moved all the files from the internal to the external, you may be able to just move them back and then uninstall them to get the registry keys/entrys out of you registry and then reinstall the game to the external. The reason why it's giving you problems is that programs cannot be moved in Windows from the directories that they are installed into - hence why a lot of computer techs hate the registry. (myself included)

On a Mac you can move programs around from drive to drive or folder to folder without much trouble. Not on a Windows machine.

If moving the files (all of them) back to the original folder and trying to uninstall doesn't work, you'll either have to find someone who can fix the problem in your registry, or reformat Windows. One other option if you have been keeping up to date with them is to go back to a restore point before you moved the game and then you should be able to uninstall the game properly at that point and then reinstall it to the external. Installing to the external is perfectly fine as long as it gets assigned the same drive letter every time that the computer starts up. If it doesn't, then you need to reassign the right drive letter to the drive in order to get the program to work again. All of this because of the registry...
