Help choose between 3 mobos please.

Hmm, well I don't know much about the via chipsets they use... Personally, I'd go with the DFI just because it's got PCIe... 2nd, probably the Asus.

I was thinking the DFI.

Do vid cards generally cost more if they are pci-e? Is it worth it?

Definally the DFI. Nforce 4 is generally a better chipset then via.

pci-e is sometimes cheaper then agp and sometimes more expensive it depends if the graphic card you want was orginally designed to be agp or pci-e.

example
geforce 6600GT is cheaper in pci-e
geforce 6800GT is cheaper in agp

I think most PCIe cards are a bit more expensive, but if you look up 6600 on newegg, the first(cheapest) one you see is a PCIe!

I suspect cards still can't really use PCIe. However, if you have any plans to upgrade in the future, that'll leave you a much larger upgrade path.

Which one and why? For a gaming comp, about a $700 system.
If you've not bought anything yet then the DFI board is the route to go there (and get a PCIE videocard). If you have an AGP videocard already then get the ASUS board there.

VIA isnt a chipset :P But yeah the NF4 is definitely better than any chipset VIA has put out

Only if they are AGP native like the NV40s :) The NV43s which are PCI native tend to have the AGP versions being more expensive
