i have a x300 so i was thinking of upgrading
i have $380ish but i am only willing to spend $150-$200 so i can get some more ram
what would be the best cards from ati? from nvidia?

From nVidia you are looking at a nice 256mb 6600GT, and from ATI, a nice 256mb X800(GT). I only found 1 GT in my search.

the GT is probably out of his budget at around $250 or so. And they dont have a 256mb 6600GT version, only a 128MB card. So i would recommend the 128MB 6600GT, the 256MB 6800, or the 256MB X800.

y r u spending 180 on ram. 1 gig of 3200 ram is 90-100 dollas
and i want to get some games, no point in getting a new video card and more ram if you aren't going to use it

okey dokey, i'll look into those cards, does anyone have any benchmarks?

Acturally the x800GT only cost around $170. They a bit hard to find thoe as being a very new card. I think it just came out with in the last few weeks. For those not familiar with the card it is a 8 pixel pipeline card with a 256-bit memory bus. core clock 475mhz and memory clock 980mhz. Base on the price and the pixel pipelines I am going to guess it most comparable to the geforce 6600GT. I have not seen many benchmarks yet comparing this card to the 6600GT so I am not sure which one it better. The one advantage I see with the x800GT is it 256 bit memory bus. I will have to see tests done before I know how big a advantage that will be.

no with the $380 i have i'm going to get ram, vid card, and games so ram is about $60-$70 and vid card is $150-$200 and games are $50 each

the x800GT looks nice i think i'll get that when it restocks in newegg
thanks for your help everyone
