Help choosing agp 8x graphics card

id go with the bfg 6800gs oc, cuz u can overclock it and unlock the pipes to 16...plus for that price its not half bad stock.

do you think that the x850pro will be able to run alot of these new games that are out on all graphics maxed out?

If you want to play new games maxed out, you need a new motherboard and graphics card with PCI-E. AGP is antiquated.

Actually 7800gs is the best agp card...but now i think about it x850 pro, has the possibility to be unlocked to a 850xt pe, which is no slouch...

i have an x800 xt pe and it runs all the games out right now no problem. i want to upgrade too, but i'm gonna wait for the next batch of cards to come out.

I have the x850XT PE (used to be an x850 PRO). And I play games such as CSS, DoDS, FO2, CoD2, all maxed out with great framerates.

Heres the problem with your post, it is implying that any mobo with agp, and any agp card cannot play new games with max settings, which is false.

A.we have the 7800gs, which will play anything maxed out
B.7600gt
c.ati x850xt pe
d.6800gt and ultra

All by which can play new games maxed out.

Theres my refutation and evidence.

Depends on which games, and what you mean by max settings. Take a look at how even high end SLI/CF configurations perform on Oblivion: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/oblivion_high-end_performance/page11.asp

Having said that, these are still great cards, I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Well I doubt that I will be playing that on that high of settings I was also thinking about this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102609
from the reviews it seems like a great card and stuff what do you all think?
I just dont want to mess up and get the wrong card

It's a good card, but priced a little high IMO. If you are going to flash the X850Pro to an X850XT, they'll be neck and neck performance wise.

For the $200 the 7600GT AGP is, you could get a $110 PCI-E 7600GT and $90 PCI-E capable mobo, which would give you a far more versatile platform for the future.

is flashing the x850pro going to be hard and do you think it will deliver palyable framerates on medium-high graphics without it being flashed ands tuff

It's very easy to do. With mine, all I did was save a copy of the original BIOS (used ATI Tool), then I downloaded the flash utility and the x850XT PE BIOS to a floppy drive, typed in a few commands, and now I have an x850XT PE :)

THe x850PRO is good by itself, but the x850XT PE offers higher clock/memory speeds, as well as 4 extra pipelines.
