I want to buy a CPU have doesn’t know which one to buy AMD or Intel? Does anyone know what AMD 3200+ equivalent to Intel P4 is? Does anyone have any comparison table of AMD and Intel?

Please help me to choose a CPU, I mainly use pc for software or converting movies, which CPU is better for performance?

Please help

You could say that an AMD Athlon64 3200+ is equivalent to a P4 3.0Ghz. This is jsut a rough estimate, there really isnt any real comparison.

AMD is better for games, intel for everything else. So i would go intel because your converting movies (which wuold take a long time on an AMD)

amd are better at photshop games and other stuff both are ruthley the same in winning wise same ammount of wins on each side its not like a slaughter by intel or nothing
they are both good

thanks for repling ....so do u guys think that i should buy Intel....
is that converting videos will be faster on intel?

AMD is not good for photoshop, sure it will work but there aer intels that are similar priced and are much better. AMD is really only worth while for gamers, while intel caters to everything else... Go with an Intel.

lol everytime someone ask about buying a CPU whether AMD or INTEl theres always a conflict in this forum, its just funny to watch how far people will go to justify their CPU lol. i would say go with INTEL-HT.

amd are much better then intel at photoshop pro amp ripping they win video encoding intel wins at games amd wins at piefast amd wins at folding at home core 65 amd wins but at folding at home core 78 intel wins and amd are the best value and bang for the buck for money so ha told u geoff and teh scores are amd-7 intel 2

Well much better is a broad term :) but yeah amd do tend to be a touch ahead of intel in photoshop
amp ripping they win video encoding
No, and ripping dvds intel will win, and at video encoding intel will also win

intel wins at games
Nope, amd wins and gaming (depending on the game of course ;))

amd wins at piefast
I assume you mean some sort of pie calculator benchmark (like super PI), in which case its not really a case of winning. Make that multiple super PI and lets see what results you get ;)

amd wins at folding at home core 65 amd wins but at folding at home core 78 intel wins
only coz 78 take and advantage of HT

and amd are the best value and bang for the buck for money
Not been true for a long time now

so ha told u geoff and teh scores are amd-7 intel 2
At those very limited (and wrong) tests

apj you understood me completely

You were saying that intel was better at video encoding and ripping, i dont see how amd is better at photshop... but for his purposes, intel would be the best choice.

And he wants to know the best for video, not photshop.

Im going to get a 3.4Ghz P4 HT 64Bit. I do lots of video/photo editing, office stuff ect, but will be doing gaming too. I would reccomend intel for reputation and all round useablility(sp?)

Sounds like an excellent choice.
