Help choosing processor

I'm planning on building a new computer after Christmas, and I'm trying to decide between two processor.

Intel P4 EE 3.46Ghz

AMD FX-55

As for what the computer will be used for: everything.

I game. I edit video. I edit photos. I burn DVDs. I'm building an all-around BEAST of a machine.

So, which processor would be best for an all-around machine like that?
 
overall the FX will probably give you the best performance. Both those chips are quite expensive, unless you want to spend all that money, try looking around for good performers that don't cost so much
 
Choosing the processor is one thing ... deciding on the platform is a bit more complicated ... whether you want to shoot for DDR2/Hyperthread for your video ops or go for the on-die memory controller + hypetransport for gaming ... depend on what you want to focus on.

Realistically, it doesnt matter.
